Ireland has always been home to some of the most inspiring craftspeople and designers around, and happily many of these are now bringing their talents in abundance to baby and kid-wear. Some are traditional and whimsical, others bring a more modern aesthetic but all have in common the creation of beautifully crafted products made to be loved and enjoyed, and hopefully passed from generation to generation. It is the very opposite of disposable culture, naturally ethical and we love it. Here are just some of our favourites.

Lollipops and Daydreams

Motivated by her own children designer Maria Ryan set up Lollipops and Daydreams to create comfortable clothes for children with a modern twist. Using simple cuts, the clothes celebrate colour, print and pattern. They are inspired by childhood nostalgia, nature, vintage clothes and illustrations, and most importantly by children themselves.

Liadain Aiken Knitwear

Based in Smithfield in Dublin, all of Liadain Aiken’s beautiful knitwear is handcrafted and finished by hand. Liadain sources the bulk of her wool from Donegal and then uses the traditionally spun Merino yarn to craft a range of playful and irreverent knitwear for adults, kids and home (her gorgeously cosy hot water bottle covers being a particular favourite of ours). Mums will adore her soft wool hats, made to order to fit the smallest of little heads.
